COVID 19 UPDATE
As you are probably already aware Governor Whitmer has given Executive Order No. 2020-21, a.k.a. “Stay Home, Stay Safe”. This order effects many “non-essential” businesses and workers, as it orders them to stay home. You can read more on what qualifies as “essential vs non-essential” here.
Mid-American Title has been classified as Essential under the critical infrastructure Exception. This means we are still open for business, processing orders, and closing transactions. However, we have added some additional precautions that might impact your usual experience at Mid-American Title. All of these precautions are being implemented for the safety of everyone.
At this time, any closure or limitation of the county Registers of Deeds will not affect closings or our ability to insure the gap period. We highly encourage closings to occur via overnight mail. However, we will still be performing in-person closings; we will do so, on a “by appointment only” structure. We will be allowing one party into the officer per appointment; at all other times our offices will be locked. We are also spreading out the closing schedule, so each party to a transaction will arrive at separate times. This allows us to keep our offices properly sanitized in compliance with CDC regulations. To ensure compliance of the “6-foot rule,” we do ask that Real Estate Agents and Lenders please consider not attending closings, unless absolutely necessary. Less is more right now, and the last thing we would want to do is increase a chance of exposure to anyone.
If you have felt ill or been around someone who has felt ill in the past 14 days, please do not enter our office, contact us prior to your appointment and we will help facilitate a solution.
We encourage strong communication at this time, to ensure that everyone understands these temporary procedures. We will do our best to make this experience as smooth and pleasant as possible during this time, while maintaining the health and safety of all parties and the guidelines issued by the CDC and other health and government officials.
With many of the courthouses, Register of Deeds, township/county offices and other businesses being closed, on limited hours, we are experiencing delays in obtaining certain information and documentation necessary for closing. As this is out of our control, we will do our best to ensure a timely closing, but please be aware we have limited resources at this time.
We thank you all for your understanding and patients during these times of uncertainty.
